My son did this with beer caps but I think pennies work better. Because you use an epoxy on the top, the air that can get trapped under the bottle caps can sometimes cause air bubbles in the epoxy that are visible and Rock paper scissors table saw shirt. With something like coins that are completely flat, there is less risk of air bubbles occuring.
