My niece hasn’t responded since September, despite me using three different mediums (SMS, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger). Boy oh boy do we have a lot to discuss, and I cannot wait to get started. Meanwhile Groot just seemed so useless and more of a liability than an actual team member- why didn’t they leave him on the ship? Drax and Gamora were the only ones who were somewhat similiar to how they were in the original film. In this film three, four really, new individuals join the Guardians team; Yondu Udonta, Nebula, Kraglin new character Mantis. These newcomers are welcome additions to the Guardians crew, especially with their respective relationships with Peter Quill, Gamora and Drax as we came to uncover. But the dynamics between the core five are off somewhat. I am also under the impression that this film should have had Star-Lord and Gamora dating at the beginning- this film implies that although the team has been together six months, these two adults can’t ask each other out? They should have been a couple going into the film.

The answer may well turn out to be that all of Johnson’s comforting nonsense about being out of lockdown in time for Christmas was just that, and the reality is that he put another lockdown off until he was forced into it. Or it might be that he made a cynical political calculation and determined that he could afford to piss off religious minorities, but couldn’t afford to piss off the majority.

It sometimes looks like a spiral galaxy. And we once thought gravity was holding a galaxy together. If you watch a whirlpool carefully you will notice the outside orbits the center slowly and the closer to the middle you are the faster it spins. But this was a bit of a problem for galaxies because this would make the arms of the galaxy wind up tight. They would not last for millions of years. Earlier in the century, before computers, astronomer would hire dozens of women who were good at math to do calculations for them. One of them made an important discovery: the speed of the stars in the outer arms was way faster than it should be. The galaxy was spinning like a solid LP record album! According to the laws of gravity, which we know quite well, it shouldn’t behave like this…unless there was WAY more mass than we could see. And the issue of *dark matter* was born. Yes, there would be a lot of dust and gas and planets and small stars we couldn’t see. But all that is still not enough for the behavior we observe. It is a mystery we are still working on!

But now to my biggest issue with the film- yes there is a USSSA Wine Country Youth Hardball Tournament 2023 logo shirt: is that it felt too cartoony and video game like! Here is what I mean; the Sovereign race, lead by Ayesha, are attacking Quill and the Guardians they ue pods. However the pods have no one in them and instead the pods are virtually controlled by Sovereings back on their homeworld. That just felt too simulation for me. I also disliked Ego- when he reveals to Peter he was the one who gave his mother a tumor- gets shot, and his skin gets blastered off, he reforms but both the way it looks and the way Russell speaks is so “end level, big boss of the game.” Also when Mantis lost control of the planet in the final battle- it felt as though the movie would pause and then you would be able to control how it went using the remote- but then you realise its a movie. Anyway, a lot of that stuff just bugged me.

Mail is still delivered and collected here in the U.K. on Christmas Eve, and I believe the same is true for the U.S. also. Although I know that this is not the Knight’s Rest t shirt in some countries, Christmas Eve is a normal working day in the U.K. and again I believe that the same is true for the U.S. also (though may people do finish work early on Christmas Eve). The question reminded me of how the mail delivered to my house on two different Christmas Eves illustrated how Christmas is not just a time of goodwill when you receive cards and presents in the post, but also a time when life goes on as usual and you can still receive the most unwelcome and unpleasant items of mail as I did on those two occasions. And here I kid you not, believe me, because twice in my life I have received a court summons on Christmas Eve !

Both Christmas day and New Year’s day are paid holidays for both Canada and US. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve do not belong to public holidays although Monday, December 24, 2018 has been declared a Verynormalclothing Mission Failed Shirt holiday by the US government. Most businesses open on normal hours during these two days. Grocery stores, post offices, department stores, specialty stores, pharmacies, convenience stores, malls, transportation services, banks, movie theaters, public libraries, YMCA, walk-in clinics and many other services are all open during the day or even late in the evening during the Christmas Eve. Procrastinating people take advantage of this last-minute to buy Christmas gifts for family members or friends or the missing gradients for the Christmas’s dinner party. Many employees work normally during these two days. I remember I insisted on working on December 24th while working with Transcanada Pipelines. Now another thing I noticed whilst watching the film- many character traits were missing. In the first film Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt, was funny, full of energy and jokes. In this film he seemed tired, and lacked the Your Honor My Client’s Going Blanky Mode Tee shirt that made his character such a standout in the Marvel library. He just seemed mopey and his jokes felt forced and he seemed really unhappy to be with the Guardians. Meanwhile Drax- he looked different in some respects and acted a little off. Yes he was still very litteral, but he seemed more light-hearted. One of my favourite things with Drax, is how annoyingly clueless he was and his dark side was something I also loved. Now he just seems too happy. Rocket- a character I have never really liked due to me thinking he is just actually a rude character, seemed even ruder- he hadn’t learnt anything from film one. Yondu’s, portrayed by Michael Rooker, voice also sounded a little off to begin with in the film, which I found odd. A few things were just off. The fun was gone.

My Christmas Eve mail one year included a The Tower T shirt summons to attend a county court hearing soon after Christmas in January in connection with an association of which I was an officer. At the time the association was collapsing in acrimony with endless quarrelling between the members, and a member who had been expelled from it was taking myself and three other officers to court for unfair expulsion. As the case was not properly defended by the association member who had the task of defending it, this member was awarded his costs, which were about £4,000, and so I and three other officers had to pay about £1,000 each out of our own pockets, as the association was insolvent. I hasten to add that the litigation in connection with this association (which involved three different court hearings) was the only time I have ever been involved in any kind of civil litigation in my entire life. A few years later I received another court summons on Christmas Eve, this time a summons to a local magistrates’ court in connection with a motoring offence, namely receiving four speeding penalties within three years. When I appeared in court in January again, the magistrates told me that they could see no reason why I should not be disqualified from driving, and so I was disqualified for a six month period I also hasten to add this was the only time in my life I have ever been the defendant in a criminal court (and of course the only time I have ever been disqualified from driving). Naturally both of these items of mail arriving as they did on Christmas Eve somewhat marred my Christmases in those two years.

One thing we always knew about Guardians 2 is that we were going to find out who Peter Quill’s father was. This set uo so many fan theories, but I don’t think anyone guessed that Ego, the Living Planet, would be Quill’s father. Upon hearing that Ego would be Quill’s dad, I was shocked, but excited. In the film Ego saves his son from Ayesha’s goons- Ayesha we’ll get to in a Yung Baby Tate Hey Mickey shirt. The big meeting between Quill and Ego seemed too lackluster and Peter was so easily convinced that this was his father. I wish the film did a spoof of Star Wars: Episode V- The Empire Strikes Back, with Ego saying “Quill, I am your father.” Episode V was released in 1980, so it would perfectly coincide with when Ego was on earth and Quill- so why didn’t they make it a spoof. Instead, Ego kind of comes down to Peter and says “I am your dad,” and Peter is like “yay, I found my parent.” Its really annoying- Peter should know better than to just automatically accept his “dads” word. Ego’s plan was also so confusing and rushed. Why does Ego have to be a bad guy? He was bad just for the sake of being bad. He was so horrible. I wasn’t even a fan of Kurt Russell in the role.

There was definitely a way with my children’s father. We celebrated holidays and birthdays as we always had done, including inviting my ex mother-in-law. My kids are in their mid-30s now, and they’ve learned to make holidays a cooperative effort as well, despite having some of the most complicated family structures you can imagine. The point is to make it about happy memories for the kids and not a time/place to rehash old wrongs.

Why does my cultural celebration take precedence over theirs? I hope not because that’s the way I’ve done it ever since leaving my parents’ house at 17. We always had the Blink 182 World Tour Sacramento, CA T Shirt Unisex T Shirt Christmas Day opening growing up, but that’s in part because our grandparents were there too. Once on my own, for some reason it seemed to make more sense (to me) to have a nice dinner and open the presents on Christmas eve. That left Christmas day to do whatever. Not much was open when I was younger, so it could be a day of quiet, relaxation and reflection. Some of my friends always did it on Christmas eve … especially as I recall my Catholic friends. Often they went to Midnight Mass and also had services on Christmas day. My church had a midnight service, but they more or less suggested adults only. And unless Christmas happened to be Sunday, there was no Christmas day service.
