I tell my news writing students this. I use the analogy: if your mom visits your house and doesn’t mention that it’s dirty then you did a good job and My favorite peeps call me aunt T-Shirt. Your goal is to not have any dirt on the floor. In some professions, people only notice mistakes. You shouldn’t be satisfied by praise, you should be satisfied by a job well done.
