If New Century Airfield is the old Olathe Naval Air Station, then my father guided hundreds of B17’s,24’s and 29’s onto those runways during WWII as a tower operator and Vintage B-17 Bomber WW2 Plane Aviation Airplane T-Shirt. Olathe NAS was a great national crossroads for Army and Navy planes flying both ways to meet the war efforts in the Pacific and Atlantic. Training flights out of Wichita, up to Olathe, and over to Forbes and back helped B24 bomber crews learn their ships.
