For us it depends, if we’re hosting thanksgiving at our house then we will typically start put up the Grand Canyon Antelopes Basketball Welcome To The Canyon Shirt Hoodie on thanksgiving weekend, sometimes even right before after thanksgiving dinner. Since we have guests over we use that as an excuse to take advantage of the additional helping hands. Instead of asking for help in the kitchen we’ll get through decorations. Plus I think it also makes for a decent pre-dinner workout activity. If we’re not hosting thanksgiving then we’ll put up the decorations little by little with the aim to finish by December 1st. I don’t know why but I like the idea of being able to enjoy the lights all throughout December. As for when we’ll take them down, there’s no set date but we definitely keep them up past New Years and at least a few weeks into January. I think the longest we had them up was until Valentine’s Day, we had spent the entire most of January in Florida that one year.

Just get an Eagles fan and a Giants fan in the same room to see how strong those affiliations are. But South Jersey doesn’t find it’s identity in it’s big-city affiliation the way the north does. South Jersey is largely rural, with a focus on agriculture over industry, with countless acres of cranberry bogs, sod farms and other crops. The towns are smaller, the people friendlier, the pace is slower and the living is easier. The South Jersey shore is where you’ll find the Victorian treasure that is Cape May, the world class beaches and boardwalks of Wildwood, Long Beach Island and others, the nightlife of Atlantic City, and getaway towns like Stone Harbor. South Jersey still has it’s own rodeo – the historic Cowtown Rodeo in Pilesgrove. South Jersey boasts the ecological treasure that is the Pine Barrens (home of the infamous Jersey Devil), as well as the New Jersey State Aquarium. I could go on, but I don’t want to brag too much – we’re not that kind of people. In the north, New Jersey is what people go through to get to the NYC, and where they go when they can’t afford to stay there. For them, New Jersey is like a consolation prize – you can’t be in the main room, but you can watch from outside. For people in the south, Philly is the getaway – a great place to visit, for sure, but not where they want to stay. And it’s where Philadelphians go when they need a break from city life, a place to relax, unwind, and rediscover an easier way of life.
