On a cold New Year’s Eve, a chicken snuff this shirt tries to sell matches in the street. She is already shivering from cold and early hypothermia, and she is walking barefoot having lost her shoes. The girl lights the matches to warm herself. In their glow she sees several lovely visions, including a Christmas tree and a holiday feast. The girl looks skyward and sees a shooting star; she then remembers her dead grandmother saying that such a falling star means someone is dying and is going to Heaven. As she lights the next match, she sees a vision of her grandmother, the only person to have treated her with love and kindness. She strikes one match after another to keep the vision of her grandmother alive for as long as she can. After running out of matches the child dies, and her grandmother carries her soul to Heaven. The next morning, passers-by find the child dead in the nook, frozen with a smile on her face, and guess the reason for the burnt-out matches beside her. They feel pity for her, although they had not shown kindness to her before her death.

We need to address REAL problems and stop banning things that in no way make our country any safer. Banning a chicken snuff this shirt pistol grip, magazine capacity, accessories, or features does nothing at all to stop people from using a gun in a crime or to murder mass amounts of people. We need politicians to be serious about addressing the problems and work with gun owners and gun organizations to find solutions. Blaming the NRA is counter productive to finding common ground that will both ensure Americans rights and also prevent mass shootings.

Perhaps it holds up so well because it sounds like it was written in an older era, giving the illusion that it’s been popular for a chicken snuff this shirt time. It’s only recently that I became aware that this song wasn’t written in the 1960s, as I’d always assumed. There are quite a few Christmas pop songs from the mid 20th century that I only became aware of when I was in my 20s. So when “All I Want for Christmas Is You” came out in 1994, I must have thought it was just another one of those older Christmas pop songs I hadn’t been familiar with before. And it does hit all the right notes to be that kind of song. The hook is strong, and it expresses the long-common theme of wanting to be near to a loved one at Christmas. The line “I won’t even wish for snow” is a call-back to the very popular “White Christmas.” It follows along naturally from “Santa Baby” and “Blue Christmas,” but it seems to fit in before the cynical “Last Christmas”.

I guess my would have been Christmas Eve and Day of 1985. We went out Xmas eve to a friends house. About 11 I get a call from my father than our house burnt to the ground.The only thing we had was the clothes on us and two cars. By the time we got there, there was nothing but rubble. It was -5 degrees that night and the oil furnace blew up.All the kids Xmas presents had been placed on the porch just prior to leaving. My chicken snuff this shirt of 13 years passed too. We went to a drug store to try to get some kind of presents. The store manager sold us anything at 75% off. We stayed with my parents that night. The next day we went to the other grandparents. On the way to the grandparents we saw a car on the side of the road with a flat tie. I stopped to help. He had a tire but no jack or tools. I did and it fit. It was a young man and wife and two children headed about 150 miles to their parents. They had barely enough money to make it.
