it’s not about city size as such; it’s about density, layout (and consequently trip lengths) and Am i Bi that’s none of your Bismuth shirt. These will all affect the potential number of trips that can be taken by bicycle. People can also use multiple modes of transport. It may be most efficient to take public transit to work, but local trips by bicycle. Or conversely, the distance for a given trip may be perfectly doable by bicycle but there isn’t suitable infrastructure to make it practical unless you’re willing to cycle in the middle of traffic.
